Kitten Information
Getting ready for the big day!
This page tells you about your cat’s upbringing, what it’s eaten, slept on, played with and been treated with; along with links to allow you to purchase the items it’s familiar with.
About Your Kitten Experience
Benefiting from the best start in life, our kittens are spoiled and treasured. They know that they are special and very much loved. So your kitten has been cuddled, tickled, softly spoken to, cooed over and totally adored.
Your kitten has been introduced to, and grown up around, children, dogs and other cats, experiencing household noises.
It will love you and enjoy exploring your home and get to know everyone within it.
Diet
Your kitten is used to the foods listed below, which are linked to the retailer, Zooplus, that we use. If you wish to change your kitten’s diet then it is best to gradually transition from these foods to the new ones you want to use.
We only feed wet food once a day, with the kittens having free access to a variety of Royal Canin dry food. With your kitten we give you a 10% discount code for Royal Canin online purchases.
Wet Food
Bozita Chicken 1/2 a packet a day will be enough.
Carny Kitten. The chicken / mixed pack goes down well.
Carny Adult 6 pack. Beef, chicken, hearts (heart is good for their digestion - I know …hugggh)
Carny Adult 12 pack. Poultry & Beef Varieties (Stay away from fish..its stinks… fresh tuna is less offensive)

Cats need CAT food
In the wild cats obtain many of the nutrients they need from the guts of their prey, they are unable to produce these themselves. Therefore they need specialised food due to the nutritional balance in them. I do not recommend a raw meat diet. (I’ve seen too many gum, bone and gut issues resulting from the poor nutritional content in a raw food diet.)
Feeding Times
Your kitten has had dry food available all the time, but eats wet food three to four times a day until around sixteen weeks when wet food drops to once a day.
Flea and Wormer Treatment
Wormer
Your kitten has been wormed with Panacure 10% liquid at 2, 5 and 8 weeks. I recommend worming every 3 months. You can buy Panacure 10% liquid or Panacure 22% 1.8gms powder online. We also use Cazitel tablets after 12 weeks old.
Fleas
We use Effipro flea spray every 2 weeks and the day before the pickup.
We recommend flea treatment every month during the ‘high’ flea season.
Litter and Trays
Your kitten is used to paper-based cat litter, we use Breeder Celect Recycled, Bio-Catolet and common white granule litter like Catsan.
They use open litter trays and, if you have other cats, we suggest you get a new open tray to begin with as cats do not like sharing litter trays. They will often protest and do their business elsewhere in the house, on your bed or under your bed. As they get used to your house they will probably be ok sharing a tray.
Our Maine Coons are a different story. Using an open tray with a Maine Coon is simply inviting the cat to decorate your floor with litter! We’ve tried some closed trays with Maine Coons, but the best results we’ve had are putting normal trays inside plastic garden storage boxes (with an opening cut in the side). Our Maine Coon owners have also reported success with the “jump in, jump out” type trays.
For the first few days give your kitten time to familiarise itself in one room. This room should have food, water and litter tray. Some kittens adapt to their new homes almost immediately, however most take time adjusting to a new home, so introduce it slowly to one room at a time over a couple of weeks. This ensures it knows how and where the litter tray is at all times. Again if you have other cats, we suggest you get a new open tray to begin with as cats do not like sharing litter trays. They will often in protest and do their litter elsewhere in the house, on your bed or under your bed.
If you have multiple rooms or floors. I would highly recommend several litter trays in different permanent positions to ensure the kitten knows where to go when it needs to.
Sleeping
Please remember kittens sleep for long times and frequently, then have mad half hours of play interspersed between sleep and food.
Your kitten will sleep in baskets, on beds and sofas, basically anywhere!
Our cats especially love to sleep in cat trees.
Toys
Your kitten has destroyed many Feather Wagglers as it grew up!
