A First for the UK

We took our Blue Eye Silver Shaded (with no white) cat, Belle Ayr OTurner, and our Blue Odd Eye Golden Shaded (with no white) cat, Belle Ayr Olympas, to show judges at ScoTICAt Show 2023. This was to gauge their views on how to progress with this coat colour and eye colour. The trait is still under consideration, but is a first in the UK and, we believe, worldwide for TICA.

We also showed Zeus and Flash for the first time. They display the new British Colour that originates from the newly discovered wbBSH mutation on the CORIN gene.

These cats are genetically golden with a lightening mutation: cop/cop + lightning (wbBSH mutation)

This new trait colour has previously been referred to as Sunshine (which is not a TICA term) in other breeds. Currently TICA don't have a name for this new colour other than the Golden counterpart CORIN Gold.

We want to thank the judges @MassimoPicardello, @AndreasKretschmer-Kraiczek, @NickyFenwickRaven, and @MariaBunina, for their time!

We would like to also thank our lovely Marie Abitol @VetAgro research lab who is working on this CORIN gene and Linda Petersson Wahlqvist for their dedication and support.
